Testimonial: Marta Kostkeiwicz

Marta Kostkeiwicz, Polish au pair

Marta is a 19-year-old from Poland. She is an au pair in New Jersey. At the end of her year, she will be returning home to continue her education. She loves drawing pictures of fairy tale characters, playing squash and biking. She tutored groups of school age children and had several babysitting experiences in Poland before coming to the U.S. to care for twins—one of whom has special needs.

“I decided to come to the U.S. as an au pair with Cultural Care because I really wanted to work with kids, see the country and improve my English. In the future, I’d like to be a teacher who teaches children the English language, so being an au pair is just great experience and preparation for that.”

What was it like to meet your host family for the first time?
My first meeting with my host family was just great! My host parents let me feel like a part of the family from the very first minute. “My” kids accepted me really quick. That was so important to me! I can’t believe it’s almost been a year already. I will be so sad to go home.

What has been your favorite aspect of being a Cultural Care au pair?
I love that I can teach the children new things about what the world is all about. I like that they can be so happy from just a simple thing we do together- that makes me feel great. But what I like most about caring for children is that I have learned so much from them!
